‘A Bad Moms Christmas’ Will Make You Laugh Your Socks Off | Film Review
A Bad Moms Christmas is a 2017 comedy that stars Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell, Kathryn Hahn, Cheryl Hines, Christine Baranski and Susan Sarandon. It is directed by Jon Lucas and Scot Moore, who collaborated on the first installment, Bad Moms.
A synopsis for A Bad Moms Christmas reads: “A Bad Moms Christmas follows our three under-appreciated and over-burdened women as they rebel against the challenges and expectations of the Super Bowl for moms: Christmas. And as if creating a more perfect holiday for their families wasn’t hard enough, they must do all of that while hosting and entertaining their own mothers. By the end of the journey, our moms will redefine how to make the holidays special for all and discover a closer relationship with their mothers”.
I want to start this review by saying that this film is totally different from its predecessor, Bad Moms. It is a family comedy. This time is not Amy, Kiki and Carla who go bonkers, but their mothers do. The person behind casting the mums did a great job. They are so funny and a fantastic choice. It was great to see Susan Sarandon back in a film.
She’s a terrific actress and her portrayal of Carla’s mom, Isis, was honest and filled with hilarious moments. In terms of how funny the mothers are, I think Cheryl Hines, who plays Sandy, Kiki’s mom, made me laugh the most. She delivered plenty of funny scenes. This is not a movie that will be enjoyed by everybody as it has some raunchy and sexual jokes, but if you enjoyed Bad Moms, I think you’ll like this one more. It is of course a film who is not recommended to persons under the age of 15.
Although, it’s just the beginning of November, A Bad Moms Christmas will get you in the mood for the holidays. There are Christmas trees, snow, caroling and even Kenny G in this film, so in a nutshell everything to get you in that festive mood. A great addition to the cast is Justin Hartley, who you might know from the US hit TV show This Is Us. I couldn’t believe how funny he was.
I really hope a third Bad Moms movie is in the cards as the story can be still developed. Maybe the next one can be about the girls’ fathers, but then they’d have to change the title a bit for this idea to work. Only time will tell if a new part will be released. I highly recommend A Bad Moms Christmas. It’s so good that I’ve already seen it twice. If I were to give a mark for this film it would be a 7.5 out of 10!
A Bad Moms Christmas is out in cinemas everywhere! Here’s a preview of what you can expect:
