AC/DC Guitarist Malcolm Young Not Returning To Band | Music News

It was announced this week that legend guitarist Malcolm Young will unfortunately not be returning to Australian hard rock band AC/DC. A statement released last Wednesday (24th September) reported that Young has now been placed into full-time care in a Sydney nursing home facility specializing in dementia. A source close to Young was quoted as saying that the guitarist had nearly completely lost his short term memory.

On 16th April, it was announced that Young was seriously ill and needed time out of performing to recover, but there may well be a chance he could return. The band also stated at the time, that they would not be retiring and they will still push on, “we are definitely getting together in May in Vancouver. We’re going to pick up guitars, have a plonk and see if anybody has got any tunes or ideas. If anything happens we’ll record it“. Malcolm’s nephew, Stevie Young has been brought in to fill his position in the band, he will tour with the band and also features on AC/DC’s newest album Rock or Bust. We wish Malcolm well.
