Action Bronson Responds After University Show Is Cancelled Over Lyrics | Music News
Rapper Action Bronson has released a statement following his removal from the bill of George Washington University’s annual Spring Fling show. The cancellation followed protests from students surrounding Bronson’s lyrics, including alleged misogyny, transphobia, as well as controversy surrounding the title of his track “Consensual Rape”. The college described Bronson “as not consistent with our values of diversity and inclusion“.
The musician responded with an open letter in which he states: “I approach my music as other types of artists approach their work, and I don’t intend the stories that I tell, the characters that I play in them or the lyrics I lay down to be taken literally“.
