Ade Edmonson Allegedly Cast For ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ | Film News

Well that’s certainly a shocker. According to The Sun, War and Peace star Adrian “Ade” Edmondson has landed a secret role in Star Wars: Episode VIII. Also famous for playing Eddie in nineties sitcom Bottom, Edmondson apparently earned the part after impressing the eighth installment’s director Rian Johnson and executive producer J.J Abrams.

Despite his part being kept a secret, movie insiders are calling it one of the most unlikely castings in Star wars history; with one saying: “Ade is one of the most-loved comedy stars in the UK but even he would admit Star Wars is a surprise move for him”. They continued, explaining how Abrams has still remained “heavily involved” with the movie’s production and is “really keen on British talent”; indicating he possibly had heavy influence in the casting of Edmondson.

Unfortunately, the source provided little information, stating: “His character is top secret, like everything else to do with the film and its plot”. However, they did speculate that Ednomdson’s old comedy characters such as Vyvyan Basterd from British sitcom The Young Ones could lead to a wonderfully weird role in Star Wars: “But given his old comedy characters, it would make sense for them to give him an eccentric part”.
