Adele now looks like she may soon be earning the kind of money that will seal her deal as global superstar. It has emerged that the superstar is on the verge of signing a new £90 million record deal with Sony after her original contract with XL expires.

If this turns out to be true, then Adele will have landed the biggest record deal ever handed to a British musician, beating out Robbie Williams‘ £80 million deal back in 2002, as well as the most valuable contract to be given to a women, following Whitney Houston’s £70 million deal with Arista in 2001.

Its reported the sheer scale of the deal is almost unheard of in today’s recording market, given the rise of piracy and streaming services having an adverse effect on album sales. But then again, we are talking about a woman who made more money from Vinyl than from YouTube streams last year.

Adele is currently in the midst of a world tour, and is gearing up to release the third single from her record-breaking album, 25, “Send My Love (To Your New Lover)”. The singer was also recently named Songwriter of the Year at The Ivors 2016, even after being snubbed in nominations.
