Fresh off her win for Top Billboard 200 Album at the Billboard Music Awards, Adele debuted the video for her new single, “Send My Love (To Your New Lover)”, during Sunday’s live broadcast. On Tuesday, July 5, she will launch her North American tour at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn.
The Max Martin-produced song is the third single off her chart-topping album, 25. It opens with earnest, rhythmic guitar and her voice as soulful as ever. The backing vocals serve to almost echo the songstress. There is a quiet vocal refrain, too, with just some subdued guitar behind it.
Donning a floral dress, the singer keeps it simple in the Patrick Daughters-directed clip, using layered effects of herself spinning and dancing. It is quite a trippy effect, but it is also appealing to watch. Sometimes it is like her face superimposed upon yet another of her faces, all of which complements the echoed aspects of the backing vocals.
