Africa Unplugged @ O2 Academy Brixton – Sunday, September 14 | Events

Africa Unplugged also known as the Glastonbury of the African music scene, is kicking off in London at the flagship O2 Academy Brixton on Sunday the 14th of September, and ends at The Ritz Manchester on Sunday, September 21, 2014. The festival is one of a kind and with a sole objective of promoting ‘ONE AFRICA: UNITED’ with this year’s awareness campaign zooming in on a serious and extremely important issue of Africa’s struggle against child trafficking and child abuse. The reason for this campaign being chosen as the main focus was on behalf of the utterly shocking case of missing Chibok schoolgirls in Nigeria. Africa Unplugged supports and voices out to #BringBackOurGirls and we hope that the festival will do its part to raise awareness and make change.

Fans who go to the festival will experience the buzz of African music, comedy and dance through an array of unique features including stunning visuals, and incredible diverse performances that are all for an extremely important cause. Africa Unplugged 2014 will be hosted by the incredible and legendary DJ Abass, and the official DJ for the event is Capital Xtra’s DJ Abrantee. The festival will showcase some of the best artist of this year – winners of the MTV and BET awards Davido, Tiwa Savage and Diamond Platnumz head the line-up with the best newcomers representing Africa and the UK, including Britain’s Got Talent’s CEO dancers, and dance groups AFRIKA, D3 Dancers and PROJECT G.
