Amy Poehler To Star In Universal Basketball Movie ‘Balls’ | Film News

Funny girl Amy Poehler is on fire as of late, if it’s ground-breaking comedy, there’s a good chance that she’s involved in one way or another and she doesn’t plan on slowing down any time soon. Not satisfied with being the voice actor in the hotly anticipated Inside Out, she is now involved with a basketball movie called… yes you guessed it Balls (I kid you not, this is the name of the film).

Poehler will not only star in the film, but she will produce it to. The Universal film will revolve around Poelher’s character, a down and out basketball coach. The National Basketball Association shock Poehler’s character when they ask her to lead a team; her promising past has put her in good stead, but she soon becomes aware of the reluctance of officials. Pressure begins to build as it sinks in how much responsibility she has as a woman in such an important position.

Poehler will star alongside her Sisters co-star Ike Barinholtz, and like Poehler, acting in the film isn’t enough, he’ll be co-writing it with his writing partner David Stassen. Filming hasn’t yet begun but don’t worry we’ll be seeing a lot of Amy in the coming months, she’ll be starring in Wet Hot American Summer prequel First Day of Camp, which will be available on Netflix, July 31 and Sisters which is set to be released on December 18.
