Arca Covers Crystal Castles’ ‘Doe Deer’ At Taico Club Festival | Music News

Venezuelan record producer Alejandro Ghersi, a.k.a. Arca, is unstoppable: Arca released two album in one year (Xen and Mutant), produced Björk‘s latest masterpiece Vulnicura, worked on Kelela’s latest EP Hallucinogen, and now the London-based DJ is touring all around the world.

During his last performance in Tokyo at the Taico Club Festival, Arca took over the mic and covered Crystal Castles‘ “Doe Deer” from Crystal Castles II. The result is as great and loud as we all can expect from him.

Arca is currently putting the final touches to third album Reverie, due this year, as well as working with Björk on her new body of work.

I speak as loud as the volume I listen to music, and this is probably symptomatic of my love for pop music: I love pop music because it is often unapologetically in-your-face, it shouts rather than tell, it drives you crazy. And after 21 years loving pop music, I think I’ve completely gone mad. It all started in 1997, when my mum bought me my first cassette: needless to say, it was ‘Barbie Girl’ by Aqua, and from that point on, it’s been a never-ending loving relationship between me and music. I study, work and live life part-time, and listen to music full-time.
