The European Festival Awards 2014 proved to be a massive success for the hit band of the year the Arctic Monkeys. Whilst other awards were handed out such as the Best Small Festival award and the Best Newcomer Act, the spotlight was on the Arctic Monkeys when they picked up their prizes of Best Headliner and Anthem of the Year with their most popular, current song “R U Mine”. Although the band weren’t personally there to collect their awards, their manager picked them up, being seemingly surprised by the fact that they had beaten other major bands like Queens of the Stone Age and Arcade Fire who were favourites to win the Best Headliner award.
