Avelino – M.O.E (Money Over Everything) | Music Video

My pick of the week this week comes by the way of North London rapper Avelino. “M.O.E (Money Over Everything)”, the first release from his F.Y.O project now has a visual to its name. Released earlier this month,  the track “M.O.E” samples Wretch 32’s historic SBTV F64 session, the official video to the track was premiered on Link Up TV earlier this week and is just as good as the track.

Avelino, who recently received praise from the likes of Etta Bond and Jacob Banks, said about “M.O.E” in a recent interview with Complex: “‘M.O.E’ is a song that, hopefully, you can turn up to but lyrically, it’s me admitting that I’m aware of our ignorance but it’s just the way it is”. Avelino has been enjoying an eventful year thus far after laying some necessary foundations with the release of his Iconic Ambition mixtape at the back end of last year. Could we have another legend in the making?

The highly anticipated video sees a small extract of Wretch’s classic F64 at the beginning of the video, before then switching up to Avelino spitting his bars on a carpark rooftop. The delivery and flow is impressive, demonstrating the talent and ability that this young man from Tottenham has, you can clearly see similarities between him and his musical influences in Wretch 32. Look out for Avelino’s forthcoming mixtape F.Y.O and check out the video for “M.O.E” here.
