BBC And Weinsteins Complete Casting For Epic ‘War And Peace’ Adaptation | TV News

BBC andThe Weinstein Company have completed their line up for Andrew Davis‘s epic TV adaptation of Leo Tolstoy‘s War and Peace. The famously long novel revolves around five aristocratic families in 1805 Russia who struggle to deal with the consequences of Napoleon’s invasion of Western Europe. One of the central characters, Natasha Rostova falls in love with the awkward illegitimate son of a rich count, Pierre Bezukhov, while she also deals with her feelings for her other suitor, Andrei Bolkonsky.

According to Variety, Downton Abby star Lilly James will be taking the role of Natasha Rostova, while Ruby Sparks actor Paul Dano will play Pierre Bezukhov and Grandchester’s James Norton plays Andrei Bolkonsky. The director of The Woman in Black: Angel of Death, Tom Harper, is thought to be taking on this project, which will be split into six one hour episodes, with other performances from Stephen Rea, Ade Edmondson and Tom Burke.

This is turning out to be a huge project that I’m actually really excited for. Paul Dano has been pulling out some great performances like his stint in 12 Years A Slave, while Lily James and James Norton are quickly become the rising stars of British TV. Watch this space for more information of the project.
