BBC Radio 1 To Make Shows Available For Download | Music News

BBC Radio 1 are to set to make their shows free to download on smartphones and tablets for up to 30 days after their initial broadcast. Listeners will be able to download a wide range of BBC programming, starting from this week when the latest iPlayer Radio update is available for both Apple and Android. Andrew Scott, the BBC’s Digital general manager of product for radio and music said: “With over 860m requests for radio streams across all devices on BBC iPlayer Radio in 2014, we’re thrilled to bring offline listening to our audiences”. The news follows after the BBC’s extension of after show broadcasts in October, which allowed listeners to revisit shows up to 30 days after, up from the previous number of 7 days.
