Belly And The Weeknd Cancel Appearance On Kimmel Over Trump | Music News

The Weeknd and Belly

The Canadian artists The Weeknd and Belly rallied together and cancelled their appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night to perform their latest single, “Might Not”.

Donald Trump was supposed to be appearing on the same episode and Belly spoke of his discomfort about sharing a sofa with the Republican nominee, “I feel like the way I was raised was to be able to see through all the titles in this world—from religion to raceI just didn’t want to feel like I was a part of a celebration for somebody who has beliefs that majority of us don’t agree with”.

Belly went on to explain his personal reasoning for opposing Trump, due to his religious beliefs, “For me, being Muslim and being somebody that appreciates my access here in America, I love the fact that I’m able to be here. To play my part in this business is a privilege and a beautiful thing. The fact that I could lose that ability through the actions of someone such as Donald Trump isn’t right to me. At all.”

The Weeknd appears to be in agreement, as he too decided to pass up the opportunity to perform the track in which he features. There is no doubt where the two R’n’B friends stand and the majority of their fans will support their decision.
