Academy award winning director Bill Condon is in line to direct a live action version of the classic Disney animation film Beauty and the Beast, in what is a new pattern for Disney in turning their classic cartoon stories into action films. Disney has already developed films such as Alice In Wonderland and Maleficent, while Kenneth Branagh is directing a Cinderella remake while Jon Favreau’s The Jungle Book is set for release in 2015. Cordon, on the other hand, has worked on films such as Dream Girls and Twilight: Breaking Dawn. It has not yet been revealed whether Beauty and the Beast will be a musical or not but previous reports suggest that the screenplay for the project has already been written by Joe Ahearne.
