The New York Daily News have reported that Bobby Shmurda has filed a suit in Brooklyn Federal Court against the NYPD for false arrest, following his June 2014 arrest for weapons possession and drug paraphernalia.
Within that report, the Daily News claimed that Shmurda is free on $2 million bail, but Shmurda’s attorney, Alex Spiro, confirmed that the 21-year-old rapper is still being held in protective custody for the foreseeable future.
Shmurda is meant to be due to go to trial on Wednesday, May 11, where he will answer to charges of “conspiracy, reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a weapon — and criminally using drug paraphernalia”.
