Brian Grazer Regrets Making ‘Cowboys And Aliens’ | Film News
Super producer Brian Grazer has confessed his regret at being involved in Cowboys And Aliens saying, “I don’t like cowboys, or aliens! But there were a lot of superstars involved with it – Ron Howard; Steven Spielberg; the director of Iron Man, Jon Favreau. I remember having this one meeting, an early meeting, and they’re talking about the title, Cowboys And Aliens. I said, ‘We aren’t really calling it that, are we?’ [The others said] ‘Yeah, of course we are!’ I was going, ‘I don’t get this at all’“.
All his previous work became huge hits including Splash, Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind and Frost/Nixon, but this particular film tanked. The film cost $163 million but it only made $174 million, which isn’t that much profit, when you take everything into account. Apparently he knew from the beginning, so its his own fault for not backing out of the movie.
