BRITs 2016 – Jack Garratt Wins Critcs’ Choice Award | Music News
Jack Garratt has been announced as the winner of the BRITs Critics’ Choice Award 2016. Garratt saw off competition from fellow nominees Izzy Bizu and Frances to win the accolade which will be presented to him at the BRIT awards in February of next year.
The singer-songwriter follows in the footsteps of Adele, Ellie Goulding, Sam Smith and, last years winner, James Bay. The award signals the beginning of a very promising career ahead for the 24 year-old, with previous victors going on to achieve worldwide success – no pressure Jack!
Garratt stated that he was “so humbled to have received this year’s Brits critics’ choice award”. He continued, “to have been nominated alongside Frances and Izzy Bizu was already a huge honour and a testament to the calibre of new UK music. To have been given this award is truly mind-blowing, considering I am one name in a hugely exciting time for music in this country. Thank you to everyone who voted, it means so much to me”.
