Chance The Rapper Stars in The New A24 Movie ‘Slice’ | Film Trailer

There is something absolutely crazy about Austin Vesely‘s directional full-length debut Slice. The movie looks like if Detention by Joseph Kahn had met Teen Wolf and together they decided to have a baby.

With cheesy music soundtrack from those 1970s’ horror movies and puffy, fur jackets, Slice presents itself with a trailer that is as confusing as it can get. The official synopsis reads like this: “When a pizza delivery driver is murdered on the job, the city searches for someone to blame: ghosts? drug dealers? a disgraced werewolf?“.

These are the questions director Vesely tries to answer. Honestly, if it wasn’t for the names attached, I wouldn’t have given this movie a second thought. It looks like one of those cheap movies that go straight to on demand or streaming services.

But the fact that Annapurna is behind the project means they saw something in it and that the project has potential. Starring Chance the Rapper in his first acting gig and Zazie Beetz, who just starred opposite Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool 2 and is set to join the new Joker movie, Slice could actually turned out to be the surprise of the season.

Rounding up the cast are Rae Gray, Paul Scheer, and Stranger ThingsJoe Keery. The movie will be out sometime this year.
