Channel 4 Will Not Renew ‘Utopia’ Despite International Emmy Award Win | TV News

Despite having won an award for ‘Best Drama’ earlier this week at the International Emmy Awards, the surreal and excellent show is not to return to UK screens according to Channel 4. The show’s last series finished in August this year, it won an RTS award for ‘Craft and Design’ for its first series, and rightly so, the visual ideas belonging to the show were truly artistic, the series was also nominated for ‘Best Drama’ at this year’s RTS Awards, but the accolades haven’t been enough to sway Channel 4’s decision.

No future utopia for fans then, an unfortunate enough outcome for those anticipating a third series, but the show had peaked perfectly, there’s nothing worse than wanting story lines leaving you dead ended. Utopia isn’t always what it’s set out to be, and we should know that. The Channel 4 drama series is however being remade for US audiences by director David Fincher and screenwriter Gillian Flynn for HBO.
