It’s official. After weeks of rumour, Cheryl Fernandez Versini has confirmed her departure from the UK’s biggest music show The X-Factor. The former Girls Aloud singer wants to focus on her solo career, as she prepares to release new music.

The singer reportedly had many meetings about being a judge on the new series as well as having dinner with Simon Cowell in Hollywood. However none of this was enough to tie Cheryl down again, the singer previously left the show in 2008 before returning in 2010.

Cheryl is not the first judge to leave before the 2016 series begins, Nick Grimshaw also stepped down after facing criticism for his judging style. Dermot O’Leary will also return to front the show after just a year away when Caroline Flack and Olly Murs took his place in 2015.

They too have left to focus on their solo careers. ITV, who own the show and will soon own its main rival The Voice, have confirmed that The X-Factor will continue into “2017 and beyond“.

The rumours surrounding the show are too many to count but one thing is for sure you can enjoy lots of entertainment, talent and Simon Cowell comments when the show makes a comeback in the autumn. Stay tuned for more news in the coming months and to see what Cheryl’s music endeavours bring to the music world.
