Chvrches Singer Lauren Mayberry Discusses Misogyny on Channel 4 | Music News

Lauren-Mayberry

Chvrches lead-singer Lauren Mayberry was interviewed by Cathy Newman on Channel 4 last night (August 27) in a discussion focused on misogyny and internet trolls. Mayberry focused on the potential misogyny which effects female fans of Chvrches, “I hate the idea that young girls who follow our band deal with stuff like that. I don’t want them to feel isolated, I don’t want them to feel like it is just happening to them, because it happens everywhere”.

Mayberry also talked about the trolling aimed personally at her, and concluded that the most sensible approach for dealing with the troll and misogynistic culture was to push forward a “shift in the cultural approach to women… that will take time”. Watch the interview below, and check out Chvrches’ new single, “Leave A Trace” here.

I am a recent Ancient History graduate and am now slowly making my way into the music industry. Right now I’m stretching my journalistic muscles and learning my way around the business. Musically speaking I’m all over the place, with a heavy upbringing of dad-rock, branching into heavy metal in my teens and all things electronic in my early twenties. In my free time I love creating and playing music, reading and trying (and failing) to sculpt myself into an Adonis at the gym.
