Cilla Black Honoured To Have Sheridan Smith Playing Her In Biopic | TV News
BAFTA Special Achievement Award recipient Cilla Black has described BAFTA-winning actor Sheridan Smith, who is scheduled to play her in a new biopic, as much more shy than Black herself. Black revealed the information at the BAFTA Awards 2014 when asked about the actor. Smith will star in a three-part TV drama on ITV as Cilla Black.
The veteran chat show host and singer praised Smith for her acting skills, saying she is excited about the upcoming mini-series. However, Black does not see any similarities in their personalities claiming that she is very upfront in comparison to Smith, but the 70-year old mentioned that her son Robert had watched Smith in action, being recorded in Abbey Road studios and came back with positive feedback. Cilla Black has been in the TV industry for 50 years, and was given the BAFTA Special Achievement Award at the recent BAFTA Television Awards on Sunday (May 18).
