Circles Announce Guitarist Matt Clarke’s Departure | Music News
Australian progressive metal band Circles today announced the unexpected departure of guitarist Matt Clarke. The band said in a statement on their Facebook page, “it’s with heavy hearts that we share some sad news with you all. After several discussions it has come to light that Matty will no longer continue playing guitar in Circles. Ultimately, Matty would like to explore some other musical directions and we would never want to hold him back from pursuing what makes him happy creatively“.
Clarke also released a statement on the same post, saying, “it hasn’t been an easy decision but after a big chat with the guys, I have decided it was time for myself to move on to the next chapter, continuing to work on some of my own music as well as some other projects“.
I’ve had the pleasure of sharing the stage with Clarke and Circles as they toured their debut album Infinitas and I’m a big fan of their work. Fortunately they confirmed in the statement that Clarke’s departure will not affect the bands position as a whole – “As for Circles, this is definitely not the end. We are working around the clock to get album number 2 out to your ear holes and can’t wait for you to hear this thing”.
