“Slow” is the brand new single from 21-year old Nashville, by way of Boston, singer and songwriter Claire Maisto, which I have been meaning to share now for a very long time. I think you’ll enjoy this one. I found her on SubmitHub, and you know every find from there has always been a winner! Claire Maisto is no exception.

The record has been described as a great mixture of indie pop and alt R&B, but what is even alt R&B? We’ll save that for another day. How would I describe “Slow”? It’s simply a beautiful track. Sure there are indie elements all over this, and it is a clever pop record, but I wouldn’t describe it as R&B, but it doesn’t even matter. Like I said, it’s a beautiful track.

On “Slow”, Belmont University alumni Claire Maisto is asking you to go for it with that love interest and throw all logic out of the window. “We said we’d go slow… LOL” has got to be the line of the song for me, it reeks of that kind of defeatism and surrendering to love in the moment. I know we can all relate. That’s not what I would personally advise, be sure of your intentions and know where things are going before “kissing in the closet at the party“.

Speaking about how “Slow” came about, Claire Maisto says, “I wrote ‘Slow’ about how it feels to be around a new love interest. I wanted to express the dizziness of being attracted to someone and not having a clue where it’s going. ‘Slow’ is about letting feelings take precedent over logic, and how sometimes it’s best to ignore the rules you’ve made for yourself. I hope people listening can relate and feel inspired to throw out their own rule books”.
