Oscar winner Colin Firth is set to star in the submarine disaster movie Kursk, directed by Far From the Madding Crowd’s Thomas Vinterberg. The film is based on Robert Moore’s book A Time to Die: The Untold Story of the Kursk Tragedy and produced by EuropaCorp.

The events of the book took place in 2000, an explosion aboard Russian submarine K-141 Kursk leaving the other 111 crew member on board fighting for their lives, whilst their families fight to persuade authorities to mount a rescue effort in order to save them. The screenplay has been written by Robert Rodat, and no release details have been given yet.
