Dakota Johnson And Matthias Schoenaerts Star In ‘The Sound Of Metal’ | Film News
No, it’s not a hard-rock version of The Sound of Music. The Sound of Metal is the story of a drummer in a heavy-metal band who is faced with the reality that he may never play again when he finds out he’s going deaf. That’s what you get from bashing drum kits all day. This sober story has recruited the talents of Matthias Schoenaerts for the role of the drummer, and Dakota Johnson as the singer in their band who will not doubt be his support as he navigates his life-changing situation.
This is the second time that Johnson and Schoenaerts have worked together after A Bigger Splash (due for release February 12), and with any luck The Sound of Metal will start shooting in August. Meanwhile, we can get a glimpse of their chemistry by seeing A Bigger Splash: a thriller that couple them with the talents of Tilda Swinton and Ralph Fiennes in a story of an ageing rock star, her boyfriend, an old friend called Harry, his daughter and incredible danger. Check out the trailer below.
