It was recently announced that the follow-up to Gorillaz fourth record, The Fall, is currently in development. Gorillaz chief Damon Albarn spoke to Rolling Stone about the status and sound of the new record: “I’m in the very early days on a new Gorillaz record. So far, it’s really fast, and it’s got quite a lot of energy. I’ve been stuck on piano, somewhere off Broadway, for years now. I want to go somewhere completely opposite of that.”

Gorillaz co-creator and artist Jamie Hewlett spoke to NME about the new album: “we’re doing Gorillaz next year… Damon has started making some music around all his other projects. I’m working on it at the moment and 2016 is going to be Gorillaz all year”. Talking about the graphic element, Hewett stated, “It’s going to change…It’s going to be a different look”.
