Dan Aykroyd Comments On ‘Ghostbusters’ All-Female Cast | Film News

Paul Feig‘s plans to reboot the famous Ghostbusters franchise was met with skepticism as soon as the idea became public knowledge, and when the line up of confirmed actresses was announced this week, the reaction was less than positive. The brilliant Kristen Wigg, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon will be donning the ghostbusting uniforms under Feig’s helm!

One former Ghostbuster seems to be squashing those negative comments down with a brilliant reaction when talking to The Hollywood Reporter. Dan Aykroyd is pretty much the franchise leader and has been trying to get a sequel off the ground for a long time, he had this to say on the recent casting;

“The Aykroyd family is delighted by this inheritance of the Ghostbusters torch by these most magnificent women in comedy. My great grandfather, Dr. Sam Aykroyd, the original Ghostbuster, was a man who empowered women in his day and this is a beautiful development in the legacy of our family business”.

It’s great that Aykroyd is so passionate about the Ghostbuster franchise in general, especially giving positive vibes towards the new female cast. While the new Ghostbuster ladies aren’t exactly my dream cast but I’m definitely all for giving this mix of hilarious women a chance to shine. The Ghostbusters reboot hits theatres on July 22, 2016.
