Deadmau5 Opens Up About His Struggles With Depression | Music News
Joel Thomas Zimmerman, better known as Deadmau5, recently quit social media by suddenly deleting his Twitter and Facebook accounts; the only indication as to what had happened was a quick Facebook message starting with “Fuck ‘social media’.” However, following that, he recently decided to come back in order to apologise to fans for his ‘rude’ behaviour and to allow fans to continue to see tiny glimpses into his professional and personal lives.
A new post on his Tumblr blog detailed his explanation: “Like many other human beings, I’ve been dealing with some depression issues that I don’t need to go into detail with. I’d consider myself far from emotionally stable, though, not unstable enough to know support when i see it. Deactivating social media for a minute has nothing at all to do with popstars or dubstep tryhards. It was a kneejerk reaction to something i saw coming a long time ago. Also, nobody’s business but my own.”
I also enjoy all forms of art, and I am extremely prone to ranting about social issues whenever given the chance.
