Following the slightly expected departure of Caroline Flack and Olly Murs from the X Factor, it looks like former presenter Dermot O’Leary could be returning to the singing competition this year. According to The Sun, Dermot has been told to “name his price” on a potential three-year contract after quitting the show last year.

A spokesman has revealed that “Dermot will come back to The X Factor. Talks are under way on his deal but everything is positive”. It has also been speculated that show creator Simon Cowell has backed the decision, with the insider explaining “Everyone, including Dermot and Simon, has the will to make it work”. Former duo Flack and Murs received a high amount of criticism last year after making several live mistakes.

The insider continued, revealing how the show’s producers have finally understood the importance of having a topnotch presenter “Producers have realised you can’t take any risks with the presenter of the show. You need someone really good who can cope with live TV”. See X Factor return later this year.
