Disney Announces ‘Jack And The Beanstalk’ Musical Adaptation ‘Gigantic’ | Film News

Disney’s D23 convention is quickly becoming the San Diego Comic-Con of animated films, with some big announcements coming about the studio’s upcoming schedule at this year’s convention. One of the biggest announcements was Gigantic which is set to be a musical version of the classic fairy tale Jack And The Beanstalk.

The film is to be set in Spain during ‘The Age Of Discovery’, it sees Jack becoming friends with a child princess, who also happens to be a giant! Like the phenomenon Frozen, Gigantic will also be a musical with songs to be penned by Frozen’s Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez (but let’s hope we don’t get another “Let It Go”). Gigantic won’t see a love form between Jack and the Princess, with her seeing Jack more as her doll than anything else. The film will feature a range of giants including Storm Giants, who wreak havoc on the world below. Gigantic is scheduled to be released in 2018.
