Drake – One Dance + Pop Style | New Music

The Six god is back with two new singles off of his highly anticipated album, Views From The 6. After over a year of teasing and drip-feeding the Rap/Hip-Hop community, Drake has finally given us a stronger indication of how his new album may sound. After last Summer’s anthem, “Hotline Bling”, Drake went M.I.A. (excluding the Meek Mill diss tracks).

Earlier this year, Drake released the single “Summer Sixteen” which was a fierce, moody track full of bravado. It received a mixed response from fans, some loved how it was in the vein of If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, but others felt it sounded like a typical Drake track; it wasn’t anything new or exciting. It didn’t match the quality or level of hype that was surrounding Views.

Since “Summer Sixteen”, Drake and his OVO team have been mischievous with their antics. They’ve been teasing with billboards around Toronto and other means of promotion via social media. The teasing has now come to fruition, with two new singles: “One Dance” and “Pop Style”.

The two tracks showcase two very different sides of the Toronto rapper, “One Dance” is a funky, dancehall inspired track, sampling an old UK funky house hit. Whereas “Pop Style” features The Throne (Kanye West and Jay Z) and it’s more of a streamlined, visceral rap song. The jury is still out on what Views From The 6 is actually going to sound like, the addition of these singles gives a stronger idea. I, for one, am excited.

“One Dance” and “Pop Style” are exclusive to Apple Music for a week. Check them out here, plus you can purchase both singles on iTunes here and here.
