First thing this morning I went straight to Spotify to check out the releases for New Music Friday. First up was Dua Lipa featuring Miguel and I was hooked straight away.
At 21 years old, Lipa is breaking through release by release (6 and counting) and with a recent Coachella performance with Martin Garrix under her belt there is high anticipation for the build up to her debut album set for release on June 2nd.
Produced by Rick Nowels, who has songwriting credits with Lana Del Rey and Adele, its no doubt that the track oozes quality and undeniably it’s a pure catchy pop tune.
Miguels soft R&B tone compliments Dua Lipa’s unique soulful vocals making it a perfect collaboration. While the substance of the song highlights the usual passion, love and desire of many a pop track, this is not an issue as the upbeat drums and soaring vocals into the hooky chorus had me dancing all the way to the tube. This is definitely one for my Friday night pre party playlist.
