Following her departure from Eastenders last month, it looks like Shabnam Masood star Rakhee Thakrar could be a potential favorite to become the Time Lord’s new companion in BBC’s Doctor Who; filling the shoes of recently departed Jenna Coleman who left the show to star in ITV’s upcoming drama Victoria.

According to an unknown source that spoke to the Radio Times, auditions for the role are currently taking place, but the show’s bosses have already set their sights on recruiting Thakrar to feature alongside twelfth Doctor Peter Capaldi. Although the speculations are yet to be confirmed, Thakrar will not be the only newbie, for new boss Chris Chibnall is set to take over the hit sci-fi show from Steven Moffat. Further updates will follow.
