Erykah Badu Accuses The Black Eyed Peas Of Plagairism | Music News

 

Erykah Badu has accused The Black Eyed Peas of copying one of her own music videos. The Peas recently ended a four-year hiatus by unveiling a new single “Yesterday” along with an accompanying video.

 

The release was done to mark their 20th anniversary and the clip plays homage to the golden age hip hop artists and albums that have inspired the group. The video shows the boys of the band (no Fergie) browsing classic LPs in a record store, with each cover coming alive with The Black Eyed Peas filling in for the original artists.

 

The group have been accused of ripping off Badu’s video “Honey”, which was released back in 2007 and features the same concept. The Black Eyed Peas’ version even includes some of the same examples as in Badu’s clip. Badu wrote on Twitter: “I think THE BLACK EYE PEAS borrowed my idea a Lil lol“.
