Final Season Of ‘Game Of Thrones’ To Have ‘Feature Length’ Episodes | TV News

After the devastation triggered by the news that there will only be eight total seasons of Game of Thrones, fans should find some solace in knowing that the final season will be made up of “feature length” episodes.

The news was delivered at Nashville convention Con of Thrones where, speaking on a panel, sound designer Paula Fairfield hinted that the final season’s episodes “could be in the 80-plus-minute range of a feature film“.

Why Game of Thrones creators have decided for longer episodes rather than more is still questionable, but the news comes with a positive reaction as it means the world of Westeros will be on our screens for a little longer.

The upcoming season 7 of Game of Thrones maintains the hour long episodes of past seasons, but the finale will have an 82 minute run leading into the series’ close.

There is still a while to go before season 8 does finally hit our screens, but in the meantime, season 7 will return to HBO on July 16, and Sky Atlantic in the UK on July 17
