First Teaser For ‘Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far On Foot’ | Film Trailer

Amazon Studios has released the first trailer for Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far On Foot, the latest film from director Gus Van Sant. The film is based on the memoir of the same name by cartoonist, artist and musician, John Callahan. Joaquin Phoenix stars as Callahan, who becomes a quadriplegic after suffering a car accident at the age of 21 after a day of heavy drinking.

The trailer below shows that the film will mostly focus on Callahan’s AA group, and how finding friendship and looking introspectively he was able to channel into his talent for drawing irreverent, and sometimes shocking, cartoons.

Van Sant, despite a few clunkers here and there in his oeuvre, is a true auteur that has proven himself to be especially good at capturing small, personal stories, such as Good Will Hunting and Last Days. This looks to be in a similar vein and with such a good cast on board – starring alongside Phoenix are Jonah Hill, Rooney Mara and Jack Black – hopefully this ends up alongside his best work.

Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far On Foot first premieres at the Sundance Film Festival on Friday, January 19, before eventually arriving in cinemas on Friday, May 11.
