First Trailer For Steve McQueen’s Heist Thriller ‘Widows’ Has Arrived | Film Trailer

Director Steve McQueen‘s much-anticipated follow up to the Academy Award-winning 12 Years A Slave, Widows, is on the precipice of finally arriving. The first trailer dropped today and it will likely only ramp up the excitement for the fourth feature film of one of the best contemporary directors.

Widows revolves around four women who must execute a heist in order to pay off the debt their deceased husbands with mob ties incurred. With both the law and criminals breathing down their necks, their plan must be inch perfect.

The trailer above is full of intensity and smartly remains relatively vague as to what the central heist actually looks like. The film looks like a big step away from McQueen’s earlier work, but the incredible acting talent he always works with remains the same. The trailer makes Widows not only look like an acting tour de force, but potentially one of the best films of the year.

The film stars an incredible cast consisting of Viola Davis, Michelle Rodriguez, Elizabeth Debicki, Cynthia Erivo, Colin Farrell, Daniel Kaluuya, Jackie Weaver, Jon Bernthal, Robert Duvall and Liam Neeson. Not only do we get treated to such an incredible cast and McQueen behind the camera, but the film is written by Gone Girl author/screenwriter Gillian Flynn to boot.

Widows surprisingly doesn’t have an exact release date as of now, but it will arrive in cinemas sometime in November.
