George A. Romero’s ‘Empire Of The Dead’ Graphic Novel Series Set For Small Screen | TV News

Today at Cannes Festival, a very important announcement was made. Demarest (the team responsible for Tusk) announced that George A. Romero is set to write a TV adaptation of his 15-series graphic novel series Empire of the Dead. Keeping very much within the tradition the pioneered (see Dawn of the Dead, Night of the Living Dead and Day of the Dead), Romero’s story is set during a zombie apocalypse, but with a twist. As the blurb for the series on the Marvel site so aptly puts it, “ITS ZOMBIES VS VAMPIRES  – WITH HUMANS CAUGHT IN THE CROSSFIRE”. It will be interesting to see how Romero’s usually zombie-dominated narrative will make space for vampires. But either way, what’s not to love?
