Gina Rodriguez, Olivia Cooke And Tatiana Maslany ‘Top Contenders’ For ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ Female Lead | Film News
Daisy Ridley may be the new girl on the block in Star Wars: The Force Awakens but there is a hunt for the female lead in the new saga’s sequel Star Wars: Episode VIII. The Wrap reports that three rising stars from TV, Gina Rodriguez (Jane The Virgin), Olivia Cooke (Bates Motel) and Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black), have been narrowed down as ‘top contenders’.
The Wrap go on to report that “Rodriguez, Maslany and Cooke will be among a group of girls slated to chemistry-read with The Force Awakens star John Boyega before the end of the month“. Interesting to note, Mislany was reportedly the frontrunner for the lead in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story before ultimately losing out to Felicity Jones. With production set for early 2016, expect more names to pop up in connection to the next instalment in a Galaxy far-far away.
With broad taste in TV from the WWE to Pretty Little Liars with a sprinkling of The 100 thrown in, Its safe to say I'm a mixed bag.
My favourite film changes on a dime but has been known to include Fight Club, The Departed, Black Swan and even The Hunger Games.
And not forgetting Empire Strikes Back ... but thats a given, right?
