“And I am telling you…” that there’s going to be a brand new West End production of the musical Dreamgirls and it opens this November. Amber Riley – Glee’s Mercedes Jones – will be starring as Effie White – the lead role which bagged Jennifer Hudson her very own Oscar.
And Riley sounds absolutely over the moon about making her stage debut, remarking that “working on the West End is now a dream realised, I just feel like this is going to be something special!” Further casting, including who will be filling Beyoncé’s high heels, is due to be announced, but Dreamgirls will run at London’s Savoy Theatre and tickets go on sale in the Spring.
