Hak Baker – Conundrum | New Music
Hak Baker was a member of foundation grime crew, B.O.M.B Squad, but has since picked up a guitar and turned his hand to writing songs. And so we come to “Conondrum”. He is playing East London’s 93 Feet East May 19, tickets here. This is in support of his debut single, “7AM”, in spring of this year, followed by The Misfits EP.
“Conondrum” is indeed guitar orientated, wistful and earnest. “Five chicken chips for our dinner…sunny East London” details an urban life, daresay one with a twist. There is a cadence in the vocals, no rapping monotone. Singing proper rears its head, too. The guitar gets yet more delicate in the closing moments, vocals humming soulfully for the fadeout.

I've always wanted to be involved in the media since before I even left school; to write for a living.I feel most eloquent when mapping out my thoughts on paper or on a computer screen.I studied media at college for two years, and went straight into third year at university studying publishing with journalism. After a range of work experience, I did a magazine journalism course in Bournemouth, a long way away from my hometown of Aberdeen, achieving my NCTJ qualifications. Now I spend my time gladly writing about music.
