Hot Sugar + Yuno – Marshmallow Weed | New Music

hot sugar

Summer is quickly approaching, and Hot Sugar has the perfect soundtrack to it. “Marshmallow Weed” – a collaboration with American singer Yuno – is a reverb-drenched anthem for those of us who never forgot the emo scene.

With its strange mix of screaming, lamenting, breezy synth and heavy guitar riffs, the track is wrong for all the right reasons, and somehow it will stick into your head and will take you back to those lazy and humid high-school summer breaks we all used to love.

Listen to the track below, alongside the other stellar tracks from Downtown Singles Club first compilation EP, featuring the likes of Tei-Shi and Fortunes.

I speak as loud as the volume I listen to music, and this is probably symptomatic of my love for pop music: I love pop music because it is often unapologetically in-your-face, it shouts rather than tell, it drives you crazy. And after 21 years loving pop music, I think I’ve completely gone mad. It all started in 1997, when my mum bought me my first cassette: needless to say, it was ‘Barbie Girl’ by Aqua, and from that point on, it’s been a never-ending loving relationship between me and music. I study, work and live life part-time, and listen to music full-time.
