Hulu Orders Adaptation Of Comic ‘Sweet Tooth’ | TV News

Hulu has given a pilot order for Sweet Tooth, a drama that will be based on characters created for DC Vertigo by Jeff Lemire. Team Downey is producing while Hap & Leonard co-creator Jim Mickle will write and direct the pilot.

The comic ran for 40 issues from 2009 to 2013, and is described as a coming-of-age fable revolving around Gus, a boy/deer hybrid who leaves home to find the world ravaged by a cataclysmic event. He teams up with a ragtag family of hybrids and humans searching to find answers behind the event, ultimately discovering a vast conspiracy that forces him to question his very existence.

This is the latest show to be based on a comic that originally began at DC Vertigo, following other shows such as iZombie, which is heading into its fifth and final season, as well as Lucifer and Preacher.

Mickle has shown his directing talent on films such as Cold In July and We Are What We Are, and combined with the success of Hap & Leonard, looks to be a good choice to be at the helm of another comic book adaptation. He recently wrapped production on In The Shadow Of The Moon, which is set to premiere on Netflix some time in 2019.
