Many of you will have seen the recent photos from Glastonbury festival: revellers pushing wheelbarrows through a course of mud; back-to-back traffic and attendees sporting wellies left, right and centre.

Over the years Hunter, a British boot brand endorsed by the Queen, has become a staple for any fashion-forward festival goer. Alasdhair Willis, Creative Director of Hunter and husband of Stella McCartney, has acknowledged that ‘rain starts play’. Now the brand has reported that April to September is their busiest period throughout the year.

The upswing starts with the sale of lightweight jackets for LA’s Coachella, and continues over the summer, as the festival circuit moves to Europe, with the prospect of more unpredictable weather.  The surge in festival focus is reflected in Google’s analytics too, which show that the most commonly searched terms over the summer are ‘what to wear to a festival’ and ‘Hunter boots festival.’

Perhaps Hunter owes thanks to fashion icon Kate Moss, who first wore Hunter wellies to Glastonbury 2005. Eleven years on and they’re still proving an indispensable fashion choice.
