Helping to nurture the next generation of screenwriters. Idris Elba has joined forces with director, Ridley Scott, in separate writing competitions, the explicit aim to find the next great British Screenwriter hidden in the competitive industry.

Scott, whose work includes Alien, Blade Runner, and Gladiator is hoping to develop at least one success film through his Launch Pad Manuscript Competition, whilst Elba is hoping to develop a major Television series through his Write To Green Light competition.

Scott commented:

“Without [writers], I would not be able to do my job, so, to be able to provide a new and innovative way for them to get their work out in the world is truly exciting”.
