It looks like J.J Abrams could have dropped one of the biggest Star Wars hints over the mystery behind Rey’s (Daisy Ridley) parents. Making her debut appearance in Abrams’ creation The Force Awakens, Rey was seemingly abandoned by her parents for unknown reasons; leaving her confined to Jaku awaiting her family’s return.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Abrams initial comments ruled out the main suspects – Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), General Leia (Carrie Fisher) and Han Solo (Harrison Ford) – “Rey’s parents are not in Episode VII. So I can’t possibly say in this moment who they are. But I will say it is something that Rey thinks about, too”.

However, he later clarified his response, explaining that The Force Awakens only develops the mystery of Rey’s parentage instead of answering it: “What I meant was that she doesn’t discover them in Episode VII. Not that they may not already be in her world”. Sadly, we’ll have to wait until 15 December 2017 for Episode VIII for answers.
