Jack Black And James Marsden Star In New Trailer For ‘The D Train’ | Film Trailer

A new trailer for Andrew Mogel and Jarred Paul‘s comedy The D Train has made its way online and starts Jack Black and James Marsden. The narrative is a little strange, with Black playing the head of a high school reunion committee attempting to track down the most popular guy from his class (James Marsden). Check out the official synopsis below.

“All his life, Dan Landsman (Jack Black) has never been the cool guy. That’s about to change – if he can convince Oliver Lawless (Marsden), the most popular guy from his high school who’s now the face of a national Banana Boat ad campaign, to show up with him to their class reunion. A man on a mission, Dan travels from Pittsburgh to LA and spins a web of lies to recruit Lawless. But he gets more than he bargains for as the unpredictable Lawless proceeds to take over his home, career, and entire life. Showcasing Jack Black and James Marsden’s most intoxicating performances to date, D TRAIN serves up the question: how far would you go to be popular?”.

The trailer starts off like a indie comedy flick but as it progresses, you get a little glimpse at some deeper, heartfelt messages about life and the meaning of popularity. Jack Black looks like he’s playing a character a little more toned down than audiences are used to, which I think is a good thing, and Marsden looks as charming as ever. Still, I’m not overly enthusiastic about the general premise but hopeful the boys might pull it off as a surprise hit! Check out the trailer, The D Train hits theatres on May 8.
