James McAvoy And Daniel Radcliffe Star In New Trailer For ‘Victor Frankenstein’ | Film Trailer
Today sees the release of 20th Century Fox’s first trailer for Victor Frankenstein. With an ensemble of British talent and more dark wit than you can shake a pitchfork at, this modern retelling of the Mary Shelley classic horror tale looks like it has more in common with Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes franchise that its gothically dour source material. Here we see James McAvoy taking up the doomed mantle of eponymous mad scientist, Dr. Frankenstein, with Daniel Radcliffe as his faithful assistant, Igor.
Intent on creating life where there is only death, the action comedy seems focused on the bravado of its protagonists caught up in this grim pursuit. Director Paul McGuigan (Lucky Number Slevin, Sherlock) and screenwriter Max Landis (Chronicle, American Ultra) look set to bring laughs where we expect drama, action where we expect gore, and Daniel Radcliffe’s chiseled jawline where one would expect a cretinous, hunchbacked sycophant.
Victor Frankenstein is set for a December 4 release and stars James McAvoy, Daniel Radcliffe, Andrew Scott, Mark Gatiss, and Jessica Brown Findlay. Check out the trailer below.
